Historical Stitches - Beginner to Advanced

Spend a relaxing afternoon learning the basics of wool embroidery (or crewel wool embroidery) with Stuart Moores Textiles' plant dyed wool embroidery floss and fabric. We will cover all of the stitching techniques necessary to create a small embroidered motif inspired by 18th century wool embroidery. learn the basics of wool embroidery including hoop set-up, pattern transferring, basic stitches, and finishing. 2 to 12 students.

Each student will receive all of the materials needed to create a motif in class as well as a pattern and all of the materials needed to make a large embroidered pin keep (biscornu) at home.

Prerequisite skills:  The ability to read a pattern and follow written and spoken instructions. Any previous embroidery experience is a plus though not required. Not suitable for under 16 year olds.

Pre-class homework:  None

Students bring: A pair of thread snips, a pair of tweezers, a craft light and glasses if students regularly need them and a seat cushion if students need one to sit for a long time.

Materials fee: :  $75 for complete kit to do the project (To be paid to instructor)
